The project involved the development of an EMS Energy Management System with Smart Grid functionality.
The EMS monitors and regulates a 4.3kWh lithium ion electrochemical ESS storage system, with consumption and production monitoring from renewable PV sources with application in the residential area, with power equal to 3kW.
Under Stand-Alone operating conditions, the EMS regulates the power exchanged with the grid, trying to minimize consumption withdrawals and photovoltaic power inputs.
The innovative functionality of the EMS is that it can receive commands from an external third party HW (PLC or Custom Electronic), with open Modbus RTU protocol.
With setting the power variable exchanged with the network: PacGridSetPoint the EMS regulates the storage system so as to carry out this exchange with the network, within the limits of the charge state of the storage system.
In this way, the EMS opens up the possibility of an aggregate management of users with production and storage systems.
The EMS, in addition to the network access, provides the possibility of connection to a back-up generator.
